A Very Short History of the Les Paul

🎙️ Les Paul: The Man Behind the Guitar

Long before the Gibson Les Paul became a rock legend, it was just an idea. Les Paul — the musician — built one of the first solid-body electric guitars in the 1940s. He called it “The Log,” and while it looked a little strange, it proved that a solid body could eliminate feedback and sustain notes like never before.

At first, Gibson wasn’t interested. But by the early 1950s, they changed their mind — and partnered with Les to create what would become the Gibson Les Paul, released in 1952. The rest is history.

🎶 Why It Still Matters

The Les Paul design has become a staple for blues, rock, and heavy music. Known for its warm, full tone and incredible sustain, it’s a favorite among legends like Slash, Jimmy Page, and Gary Moore.
