3 of My Favorite Electric Guitars - Under $500 and Available Now
I get asked all the time about my favorite guitars, and honestly, it changes weekly. I’m lucky enough to play so many great instruments, and new favorites pop up all the time.
But right now, I have three electric guitars in the shop that stand out from the usual lineup. They’re all a little different from your standard Strat, and best of all - each one is under $500.
🎸 1. Gretsch CVT – Retro Looks, Modern Power
First up is the Gretsch CVT. It’s a modern take on the classic 1960s Corvette, and it’s one of the coolest guitars I’ve played recently.
With its double-cut body, it gives off a mix between SG attitude and PRS-style comfort. The dual humbuckers pack plenty of power, while the lightweight body makes it a joy to play.
If you want something that stands out from the usual Fender-style shapes - but still delivers great tone and playability - the Gretsch CVT deserves your attention.
🎶 2. Squier Classic Vibe Starcaster – Vintage Feel Meets Indie Cool
Next up is the Squier Classic Vibe Starcaster - a guitar that blends semi-hollow warmth with offset style.
The semi-hollow body gives you an airy, open tone that’s perfect for indie, jazz, or singer-songwriter styles, while still handling clean or crunchy tones beautifully.
It’s a unique design with a ton of personality, and it’s a great way to get that classic Fender vibe - without the typical Strat or Tele body.
⚡ 3. Cerberus Hermes 6VT – A Modern Take on the T-Style
Finally, one you may not have heard of yet: the Cerberus Hermes 6VT.
Cerberus is a new brand in the shop, and I’ve been seriously impressed. The Hermes 6VT combines a T-style body with two humbuckers, a roasted maple neck, and a tremolo bridge - giving it a perfect balance of classic feel and modern performance.
It’s built for rock, but the clean tones are equally impressive. If you like versatility, playability, and fresh design, this one’s a sleeper hit.
